WHAT IS THE GOODYEAR-USW NEUTRALITY AGREEMENT?
In 2003, Goodyear and the USW reached an agreement that states:
"The Company and the Union have developed a constructive and harmonious relationship built on trust, integrity, and mutual respect."
"The Company will not in any way, directly or indirectly, involve itself in any manner which involves the unionization of its production and maintenance employees."
Among other things, the Neutrality Agreement provides recognition of the Union if a majority of eligible workers sign Union cards, access to Goodyear facilities so you can ask questions and meet with Union Representatives on your break times, and arbitration to resolve any disputes for your first contract, if needed.
WILL WE HAVE A VOTE?
If a majority of eligible workers sign Union authorization cards during the 90-day campaign period, the Company will recognize the Union without an election.
WILL MANAGEMENT SEE WHO SIGNED UNION AUTHORIZATION CARDS?
NO. Union representatives will be collecting the cards. Once a majority of workers sign Union cards, the cards will be given to a third party, neutral arbitrator who will verify the signatures in private. After the arbitrator verifies a majority, the cards will be given back to the Union.
WHAT IF THERE IS NOT A MAJORITY AFTER THE 90-DAY CAMPAIGN?
If a majority of eligible workers do not sign Union authorization cards during the 90-day campaign period, the Union must wait 1 year before another organizing campaign can be run. During that year, the Union will continue to send you periodic newsletters to keep you informed about issues and industry developments.
