Union Sportsmen’s Alliance Awards Electrical Worker With New Chevy Silverado
For Immediate Release September 16, 2009
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance and Chevrolet recently announced Kent Erickson, a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 26 in Lothian, Md., as the winner of a brand new 2009 Chevy Silverado.

The Chevy truck giveaway was the latest in a series of ongoing promotions from the USA, a hunting and fishing club of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership and its AFL-CIO trade union partners exclusively for union members, retirees and their families. While connecting union sportsmen and -women across North America, the USA extends union member benefits to the woods and water by providing useful news, tips and techniques; valuable discounts on gear; and chances to win valuable prizes.
“The Union Sportsmen’s Alliance brings together union members who appreciate the quality of products made in the U.S. and share Chevy’s passion for preserving the traditions of hunting and fishing, and we feel fortunate to be part of that effort,” said Chevrolet Regional Marketing Manager Tom Gilbert.
Erickson learned about the USA and the TRCP, a coalition of conservation organizations and individuals working together to preserve America’s outdoor heritage, while attending an IBEW Local 26 meeting. As a union member and an avid bass fisherman, he was eager to join an organization that is supported by his union and works to protect his opportunities to pursue one of his favorite pastimes.
“I joined because the USA shares my passion for the outdoors while helping to ensure that I’ll have a place to hunt and fish for years to come,” said Erickson. “And now I’ve got a great, American-made truck to haul all my outdoor gear.”
IBEW International President Edwin D. Hill congratulates Erickson on his good fortune and commends all the other members who make the USA and the TRCP. “We’re proud of all members who join these vital organizations and make a personal commitment to conserve our hunting and fishing grounds for future generations,” said Hill.
“The USA is committed to seeking out and delivering exceptional benefits for union sportsmen and -women that uphold their union values,” said USA Executive Director Fred Myers. “That’s why we’re so proud of our partnership with General Motors and the Chevy brand and the opportunity to award one of our members with an American-made truck that he can use in his outdoor pursuits.”
