Democrats Back Case to Curb Chinese Tires Amid Economic Woes

June 2 (Bloomberg) -- Senator Arlen Specter and other Democratic lawmakers backed a petition to limit Chinese tire imports, arguing that the case is a chance for President Barack Obama to chart a new course for U.S. trade policy. At a hearing of the U.S. International Trade Commission today, Specter of Pennsylvania joined Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio, Evan Bayh of Indiana and other lawmakers in predicting that Obama would curb imports of $1.7 billion in automobile tires from China if the ITC recommends such action ... more
