Needy children are the beneficiaries of a joint labor-management toy drive in Granity City, Ill.
The 500 new toys that were collected for distribution to the Children’s Home and Aid and the Good Samaritan House on December 18, was a joint effort between the USW Local’s 1899 and 50 in District 7 and U. S. Steel Granite City Works.
Over a recent two week period, volunteers from both the USW and plant management collected new toys and cash donations at several plant gates.
The Good Samaritan House in downtown Granite City has been providing emergency temporary shelter for young women and children since 1998.
Children’s Home and Aid Society of Illinois is a leading child and family service agency in Illinois. Since 1883, the Children’s Home has been a compassionate advocate helping shape public policy in child welfare, early childhood and juvenile justice.
