HOW MANY ALCOA EMPLOYEES ARE UNION MEMBERS?

The majority of Alcoa workers in the United States, over 20,000 people, are members of either the USW or other Unions. Around the world, thousands of other Union members also work at Alcoa.

HOW MANY ALCOA EMPLOYEES ARE MEMBERS OF THE USW?

With over 15,000 members working at Alcoa, USW members have been negotiating Union contracts and helping Alcoa grow since 1944. Over the last 60 years, Union members have helped make Alcoa the number one aluminum company in the world and through collective bargaining have created the foundation of good jobs, good wages, good benefits, and good working conditions that most Alcoans enjoy today!

HAVE ANY OTHER ALCOA WORKERS JOINED THE USW RECENTLY?

Over 700 Alcoa workers in Cressona, Pennsylvania joined the USW in October after an independent arbitrator verified that 65% of the employees had signed Union authorization cards. After several years of losing benefits and changes in their working conditions, Alcoa workers in Cressona voted to join the Union to protect the benefits they still have, to improve their working conditions and to be able to negotiate with the company in a strong, united voice.

Thousands of Alcoans have recently joined the United Steelworkers (USW) in Hawesville, Kentucky; Auburn, Indiana; Texarkana, Texas; Danville, Illinois; Lebanon, Virginia; and, Chandler, Arizona. As Union members, all of these Alcoans were able to negotiate good Union contracts with many improvements to their pay, benefits and working conditions.
