Home Depot Leafleted in Texas in Support of Canadian Workers

These are pictures of leafleting which took place on Saturday, September 22nd at Home Depot in Galveston County, TX as part of the Union’s ongoing protest against unsafe working conditions of Canadian Forest Product workers.

More than 80 members from 28 Local Unions around District 13 hand billed 21 different Home Depot locations in:

Sweetwater, Tx. Amarillo, Tx., Dumas, Tx., Texarkana, Tx., Tyler, Tx. (2 stores),  Longview, Tx., Texarkana, Ark., McAllen, Tx., Mission, Tx. San Antonio, Tx. (2 stores), Woodlands, Tx., Tulsa, Ok., Fort Smith, Ar., Monroe, La., Lake Charles, La., Baton Rouge, La., Zachary, La., and Covington, La, and Houston, Tx.

In addition, Locals 13-836, 1398, and 391 in Orange, TX also hand billed locations on short notice

“All things considered I am very proud of the efforts of our Sub-District Directors, Staff Representatives and Local Unions despite some very inclement weather this past weekend. They are to be commended,” Assistant to the Director John Patrick said.

Even with their annual picnic having already been scheduled for this past weekend, Local Union 13-1 didn’t miss out on the opportunity to educate people about the safety conditions of Forestry Workers in BC. They passed out handbills to all those that attended the picnic on Saturday. They also had a huge presence the previous weekend in the Houston/Galveston area when 16 activists hand billed 3 different Home Depot stores.

More photos will be added as they come in.  District 13 members also leafleted the following weekend as part of the national action.
