New Members Make Steel-Frame Houses

Workers at a brand new Chicago-area manufacturing facility are among the newest members of the United Steelworkers.

Morino Ware Industries is located in East Chicago, Ind. and workers there construct steel frames for residential housing. Steel-framed houses are a relatively new option for homeowners in an industry that has shown exceptional potential.

Currently, the company employs about 60 Steelworkers, but the workforce is expected to increase to 300 within a year.

Our new members become part of USW District 7 where Jim Robinson is Director. The USW is the largest industrial union in North America and represents over 850,000 workers.
