Maglev Training

Maglev Inc. developed a training partnership with local academic institutions Community College of Allegheny County and Penn State University, Greater Allegheny campus. This partnership was created to produce the skilled workforce necessary to fabricate the guideway beams for maglev transportation construction.

High-speed maglev beams will be created using precision fabrication technology. Precision fabrication is a fully mechanized welding process to mitigate weld distortion while still creating compound curves both horizontal and vertical. Additionally, precision fabricated work produces a higher-quality product, a faster time-to-market, with overall cost reductions at upwards of 20%.

Trainees of this technology will receive an associate’s degree (two year college). This can lead to a bachelor’s degree (four year college) with a certificate in Precision Fabrication Technology Management.

A properly trained worker is immensely beneficial to the employer. Industrial companies function on a narrow profit margin.  When a company utilizes trained employees, they reduce re-work (re-work requiring cost of labor, cost of materials and time). This reduction will accordingly lead to increased margins.
