Classes are conducted at the request of Districts or Locals, or on an as needed basis.
Course objectives include:
- To encourage interested activists to understand the power of good local communication through newsletters, bulletins, leaflets and other simple, written forms of communication;
- To inspire confidence in potential editors so they can start a simple newsletter themselves;
- To learn how to formulate effective messages (promoting the union);
- To give some basic, hands-on experience in the two main areas of newsletter production — writing and editing, and layout and design.
- To understand the tools and resources available to help local activists produce better communications (doing research, surveying members, etc., technology).
