Holding Lawmakers Accountable

Steelworker members from around the country have been voicing their concern and disappointment over the passage of the Central America Free Trade Agreement since the vote took place in the House of Representatives in late July 2005. 

Throughout the Congressional recess in August, groups of USW members have protested outside the offices of those lawmakers who cast votes in favor of the flawed CAFTA agreement.  The following photos are from some of the varied rallies, demonstrations and events that have taken place.

 


Over a hundred people turned out at Congresswoman Melissa Bean's district office to protest her pro-CAFTA vote. 

 

Members of the Steelworkers from the Nashville, TN area marched into Congressman Jim Cooper's office to state their opposition to his vote in favor of the disasterous CAFTA bill.

 



 


USW Members in Utah demonstrated outside Congressman Jim Matheson's office to voice their concerns over his bad CAFTA vote.

 

USW Members were joined by Associate Members and other groups in protesting the pro-CAFTA vote of Washington lawmaker Norm Dicks.

USW Local 5032 members joined in a demonstration in Allison Park, PA.  Protestors signaled their frustration with Rep. Melissa Hart's pro-CAFTA vote.
