Leadership to tackle unfair trade, the exporting of jobs, and protecting our environment
Dave Foster, Director of District 11 of USW, and Sierra Club President Larry Fahn, will tour Oregon and Washington beginning May 2, 2005. This unusual pairing will talk to members, the media, and members of Congress to fight the exporting of jobs and to protect the environment.
What brings them to the Northwest? The next NAFTA-like trade deal, or CAFTA, the Central America Trade Agreement. This top priority for the Bush administration threatens to greatly expand the damage already done by NAFTA: undermining environmental regulations and sending more jobs overseas. Key members of Congress need our help to stand up to enormous pressure from corporate interests looking to profit from unfair trade agreements.
On May 2nd Foster and Fahn will visit Portland, on May 3rd and 4th they will be in the Seattle and Tacoma area of Washington State. Please call Joel Hanson at 253-351-0511 if you would like to be involved in organizing these events or reaching out to your community.
