The USW represents over 4 thousand can industry workers in the U.S. and Canada, and thousands more in other parts of the container industry.   Fred Redmond, USW International Vice President (Human Affairs), is the Union’s International Officer responsible for the container industry.   Redmond is leading an effort to build USW’s power in the can industry through coordinated bargaining and organizing.   This compliments an ongoing USW effort to build power in the glass container industry.   Major can industry employers include Crown, Cork & Seal; Rexam; Silgan; and Ball.   See the column to the left to learn more about USW’s current initiatives in the can industry.
