Our union has always followed three guiding principles when endorsing political candidates. First, the wellbeing and opinions of our members are paramount. Second, as a union we fundamentally believe that the right to collectively bargain contracts is the only way to ensure high wages, good health care and a safe retirement. Lastly, we believe that the primary role of the federal government and elected officials is to help people reach their potential, and that once a person reaches their potential, they have an obligation as an American to help others do the same. We will need your help in mounting a campaign to drive both Democrats and Republicans away from corporate interests and back to our fundamental principles.
