A Federal District Court in Brownsville, Texas has provided further confirmation that Grupo Mexico does not operate in the best interests of ASARCO. In its August 30, 2008 ruling on ASARCO's fraud and conspiracy lawsuit against Americas Mining Corporation ("AMC"), the Grupo Mexico controlled parent company of ASARCO, the Court found that AMC engaged in a fraudulent transfer of the stock of Southern Peru Copper Company from ASARCO to AMC.
