USW Members Ratify 5-Year Contract with REP
The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that members of six local unions at five Republic Engineered Products (REP) plants have ratified a five-year contract. Union members reviewed the tentative agreement reached last month with their local and international negotiating committees before voting by mail in the secret ballot election. Steelworkers Announce Tentative Agreement with Meridian
The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the union’s negotiating committee has tentatively accepted a collective bargaining agreement with Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc. that could end a 15-month lockout at the company’s Jackson, Ohio plant. USW Will Seek Unlawful Bargaining Charge Against Meridian
The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the union will file charges against Meridian Automotive Systems, Inc., with Region 9 of the National Labor Relations Board for what the union believes to be unfair labor practices at the bargaining table. Over 300 USW members have been locked out at Meridian’s Jackson, Ohio plant since April 2006 while the union has bargained in good faith with the company for a contract that would return the members of its Local 820L to their jobs....... more

USW Obtains Payment to Retirees of General Fireproofing
The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the hourly retirees of General Fireproofing are receiving $840,000 on a claim advanced by the USW to account for the value of negotiated health insurance benefits terminated shortly after the company entered Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in 1990.
