WOMAN OF STEEL IN LIBERIA
I was proud to be a part of the recent USW delegation to Liberia as a representative or our Union and Women of Steel (WOS). The delegation was led by USW Vice-President (Human Affairs) Fred Redmond and included John Alexander of Health, Safety and Environment; and Mike Zielinski of Strategic Campaigns. Also joining the delegation were Marc Bayard and Neha Misra of the AFL-CIO’s Solidarity Center. Local 309 Hosts Christmas Party For Underprivileged Children
USW District 9 Local 309 Women of Steel hosted a Christmas Party for children living at and below poverty level, many of which are in the Relative Care Giver Program - a program for aunts, uncles, grandparents and other relatives raising children which they did not give birth to. Women of Steel Make a Difference
Fifty-two employees at Smead Manufacturing were sent home because there was no work. When less-senior employee’s received their paychecks, some found that they hadn’t earned enough to even cover their insurance benefit. Special Guests at Southern Illinois Meeting
The District 7 Southern Illinois Women’s Council had three very special guests at their July meeting. Locals 9115 & 2660 Participate in Political Leadership Training

Woman of Steel Gains Seat on Connecticut AFL-CIO Executive Board
