The Union Leadership at Local 5965 entered a "Buy American" float in the Memorial Day Parade at Hastings, MI. The float represented the jobs and services such as health, education, retail, businesses, agriculture, and construction that are affected by the loss or gain of jobs in manufacturing. President Terry Newton wanted to help make the community aware of the importance of manufacturing jobs in our community. 

The Local presented the "Buy American" Resolution to the Hastings City Council in March and wanted to expand and support this resolution by reminding our community that manufacturing matters to all of us and our economic well being. Terry also wanted to show the community that Steelworkers support and are active in their community.

Kim Nicholson also helped a great deal with this project but was “missing in action” for pictures.
