Campaigns to Win
In today’s competitive marketplace, USW recognizes that labor-management cooperation is vital to achieving productivity, profitability and good pay and benefits for workers.  Unfortunately, not all employers recognize this.

Some employers are so intent on cutting corners that they are willing to jeopardize the welfare of workers, communities, shareholders, and other company stakeholders.  In short, they’re committed to corporate abuse.

One way USW resists corporate abuse is through strategic campaigns.

USW strategic campaigns involve an organized, mobilized membership intervening in a company’s key relationships in order to build pressure on the company to act fairly and reasonably.  Members receive support and assistance from union staff.

USW strategic campaigns involve a broad array of activities: rallies at company events, appealing to a company’s key customers, informing industry analysts about company mismanagement, running shareholder resolutions, etc.

Frequently, USW strategic campaigns include collaboration with other unions at home and abroad.  They also include joint efforts with environmentalists, religious bodies, civil rights activists and a host of progressive organizations.
